What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived). This helps us improve the guides. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner — decline, and no analytics data is collected. IP addresses are anonymised by Google.

Newsletter. If you choose to subscribe, we collect the email addressyou provide. We use it only to send occasional plant guides, tips and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

What we don’t collect. We don’t require accounts or passwords, don’t take payments on this site, and don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Cookies & consent

We use a small number of cookies. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are governed by Google Consent Mode and are denied by default until you click “Accept” in our banner. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so we don’t ask again. You can change your mind any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which brings the banner back.

Affiliate links

Some links to products (for example on Amazon, or plant retailers via the Awin network) are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we may earn a small commission atno extra cost to you. We only recommend items we believe are genuinely useful, and these commissions help keep the site free. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer may set its own cookies and process your data under its own privacy policy.

Who we share data with

We don’t sell your data. We rely on a few trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

• Google Analytics — website analytics (only with your consent).
• Kit (ConvertKit) — delivers our newsletter and stores subscriber emails.
• Cloudflare — hosts and serves the website, and provides basic security.
• Affiliate networks & retailers (e.g. Amazon Associates, Awin) — when you follow an affiliate link.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK/EU GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. For the newsletter you can unsubscribe at any time. To make any request, just email us at[email protected] and we’ll help.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained by Google for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
